Plastics technology at LAPP – from science to practice: The art of plastics

Working with plastics is an art and can also be compared a little to Michelin-starred cuisine. The special mixtures and techniques produce perfectly harmonised, masterful results – be it in food or in plastics. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Bonten is a master of plastics technology. He has headed the Institute for Plastics Technology (IKT) at the University of Stuttgart since 2010 and, together with his team, has been an important advisor to LAPP for many years.
Seaquake research with special LAPP Cable

On 26 December 2004, the earth shook in the Indian Ocean with a magnitude of 9.1. The epicentre was around 85 kilometres off Sumatra. The result: a devastating tsumami that claimed the lives of around 230,000 people. In order to better predict such quakes in the future, an innovative measuring method with fibre optic monitoring has now been developed with the support of the European Union. The special cable for this comes from LAPP.
